Sweden’s Klarna acquires influencer marketing software firm APPRL

Sweden-based buy now, pay later firm Klarna today announced the acquisition of performance based influencer marketing software company APPRL. The financial terms of the acquisition deal weren’t disclosed. 

Klarna said in a blog post that the acquisition of the Stockholm-based SaaS platform is the latest addition to its ‘growing roster of retailer marketing services.’ 

Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowsk said: ”By adding APPRL to Klarna’s existing retailer support expertise, we see a huge opportunity to create an enriching and informative shopping experience for consumers everywhere while accelerating retailer growth.

Founded in February 2014 by Gustav Gisseldahl, Jesper Åström, Klas Wikblad and Martin Landén, APPRL allows e-commerce brands to find the right influencers for their businesses and track their influencer marketing campaigns in real time. 

 “We are incredibly excited to join Klarna on its impressive journey and bold mission ahead.’’ said APPRL CEO Martin Landén. ‘’With APPRL’s platform together with Klarna’s scale, incredible talent and portfolio of marketing services, we will be able to offer retailers an end-to-end influencer and performance marketing solution that they won’t be able to find anywhere else.”

Klarna, which currently has 90 million global active users who make 2 million transactions every day, raised $1 billion at a $31B valuation in March this year and $639 million at a $45.6B valuation last month.
